In the abandoned industrial wastelands of Detroit, where empty factories stand like ancient ruins, Max takes a night shift job at a mysterious waste disposal facility. His task seems simple: drive a forklift loaded with toxic waste into a massive black sphere—what his coworkers casually call “the lift”—and dispose of it on the other side.
But the other side isn’t just another facility or dump site. It’s somewhere else entirely. Somewhere impossible.
When Max discovers that his predecessor disappeared without a trace, he begins to realize this job might be more than he bargained for. In a business run by Detroit’s most dangerous crime family, asking questions about missing employees is a good way to disappear yourself. Yet the mystery of what lies beyond the lift—and what happened to the man before him—proves too tempting to ignore.
THE LIFT is a gritty science fiction noir that blends the criminal underworld of Detroit with cosmic horror, exploring the boundaries between greed, survival, and the unknown.
